Queen's Park and Govanhill named among UK's 'coolest neighbourhoods' by Conde Nast

Queen's Park and Govanhill has been named as one of the 'coolest neighbourhoods' in the UK by Conde Nast.

Included in June's Conde Nast travel magazine, the article profiles a number of 'under-the-radar' areas in cities across the country.

And the south side location made the list - the only Scottish neighbourhood to do so - on account of its 'creative entrepreneurship, affordable rents and community projects'.

The likes of cult coffee shop Short Long Black, much-loved Asian eatery Nanika and craft ale spot Koelschip Yard get a mention as well as arts venues Tramway and the Queen's Park Railway club.

The article says: "The eclectic Southside is taking the city’s motto ‘Let Glasgow flourish’ to heart.

"Govanhill is the most multicultural square mile in Scotland, with more than 30 languages spoken and a large Roma community. It’s not without grit, but creative entrepreneurship, affordable rents and community projects have sparked an impressive renaissance.

"On one side, past a crescent of blond sandstone former tenements with park views and stoops that could double for Brooklyn, is Pollokshaws Road.

"On the other is Victoria Road, a once-grand boulevard where spit-and-sawdust bars and closed-up cafés are being rapidly transformed."

Just last September, Kelvinbridge was anointed one of the 50 coolest neighbourhoods in the world by Time Out, while west end neighbour Finnieston was chosen as one of the best places to live in Britain by the Sunday Times last April.

But, it appears all eyes are now on the south side - where do you think is the coolest neighbourhood in Glasgow? Let us know in the comments.
