Queen's long-time aide warned Harry and Meghan's marriage would 'all end in tears'

A long-time aide of the Queen allegedly warned that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 's marriage would "all end in tears".

Lady Susan Hussey is said to have made the comment a few months before the couple wed at a lunch with a group of theatre executives.

The comments from the aide - who has been a lady-in-waiting to the Queen since the 1960s - were revealed in a new book by investigative writer Tom Bower.

Revenge: Meghan, Harry And The War Between The Windsors was published earlier this week.

Bower writes, according to the Daily Mail : "While discussing the possibility that Meghan might become linked with the National Theatre after the wedding, Hussey became unexpectedly serious about the couple’s future.

"'That will all end in tears,' she is alleged to have warned. 'Mark my words.'"

The 83-year-old is said to have been a member of the team asked to help the American-born actress adjust to life within the Royal Family.

The book claims that Lady Susan is said to have visited Meghan at Nottingham Cottage - the property in the grounds of Kensington Palace where she lived with Harry - to offer advice and help.

In response, the duchess is claimed to have been "insistent" that she would not let Buckingham Palace shape her or dictate her activities and thoughts.

Prince Harry and Meghan celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in May.

At the time, the royal wedding was watched by nearly two billion people around the world as the pair tied the knot in Windsor.

Prince Harry and Meghan welcomed their second child, Lilibet, named after the Queen’s childhood nickname, in June 2021.

Lilibet celebrated her first birthday in June and the duke and duchess were "incredibly touched" by the birthday wishes that flooded in for her.

Royal fans around the world donated more than £79,800 to the World Central Kitchen, one of the charities the Sussexes' Archewell Foundation has been supporting to celebrate Lilibet's birthday.

The organisation provides meals for those affected by humanitarian, climate and community crises and is said to be especially near to the couple's hearts.

This new book comes before Prince Harry ’s memoir is due to be released later this year which has the Royal Family worried that he may make fresh allegations against them.
