The Queen is known for her quick wit, which she has been known to employ whilst around her family and when greeting the many people she meets each year at public engagements.
It’s therefore unsurprising that a newly-resurfaced report has revealed the cheeky comment the Monarch made after the birth of her grandson Prince William.
Baby Prince William was welcomed by new parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana on June 21, 1982.
According to a Daily Express report, Charles sounded like a besotted new father when he wrote to his second cousin Patricia Mountbatten, announcing the happy news.
"The arrival of our small son has been an astonishing experience and one that has meant more to me than I ever could have imagined,” he was quoted as saying.

"I am so thankful I was beside Diana's bedside the whole time because I felt as though I'd shared deeply in the process of birth and as a result was rewarded by seeing a small creature who belonged to us even though he seemed to belong to everyone else as well."
However, the Queen reportedly had a rather different reaction.
"Thank goodness he doesn't have ears like his father,” she said.
Her joking response to royal births is a popular trait within the firm.

According to the Netflix documentary, The Royals, in 2013, Philip casually met his newborn son, Charles, commenting he looked like a "plum pudding".
Furthermore, in the 1992 biography, Diana: Her True Story, author Andrew Morton claimed Prince Charles and Princess Diana were "very, very close" in the six weeks before their second son, Harry, was born.
However, years later, Diana claimed Charles made a comment after the Duke of Sussex was born.
He apparently remarked: "Oh God, it's a boy!
"And he's even got red hair!"

The Queen’s humour isn’t just reserved for family; a quirky anecdote told to the Times by Richard Griffin, a former royal protection officer, reveals another example of the Queen’s wit.
According to Griffin , a group of unwitting American tourists failed to recognise the Queen when walking with an undercover police officer around the estate.
The group are then said to have asked whether she had actually met the Queen herself. At this, the Queen’s well-renowned sense of humour came to the fore.
“No, but this policeman has,” she reportedly answered, gesturing to her protection officer.
The group then went on about their business, entirely unaware that they themselves had now met, and spoken to the Queen.
