Queen's favourite grandson Peter Phillips 'splits from wife' after 12-year marriage

The Queens 'favourite grandson' has split from his wife after 12 years of marriage, according to reports.

Peter Phillip - the son of Princess Anne- is understood to have been asked for a divorce by his wife Autumn.

A source told the Sun:“Peter is absolutely devastated by this and just didn’t see it coming.

“He thought he was happily married and had the perfect family with two lovely daughters. But he is now in total shock."

Autumn and her 42-year-old husband have two children together, Savannah, nine and Isla, seven, after getting married in 2008.

The source added: “Autumn is a wonderful wife and mother and a very intelligent woman but she’s been telling her friends for some time that there were issues.

"She is a favourite of the Queen and I’m sure Her Majesty will be very upset by this as well.

“It’s the last thing she needs after all her recent troubles and you get the feeling that the royal family is falling apart a little bit.”

It come after a disastrous year, branded a second 'Annus Horribilis' by some Royal commentators, which saw the Queen face numerous problems.

Prince Andrew was forced to step back from public duties amid widespread criticism over his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

While Prince Harry and Meghan shocked the Royals with their plan to step back from their public roles and base themselves in Canada.

Autumn, a management consultant, is understood to want to return to Canada.

Her daughters have dual Canadian citizenship.
