Kate and William's wedding cake makers have revealed that the Queen saw the funny side when they were forced to take drastic measures to complete the creation.
Almost ten years on since the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot at Westminister Abbey in a celebration watched by millions, staff working on the big day have reflected back upon the exciting celebration.
In a new show called The Day Will and Kate Got Married, Fiona Cairns - who designed the wedding cake - revealed that The Queen had an entertaining remark after hearing of the lengths they had gone to in order to get everything done on the tiered cake.
"I was told that Her Majesty would be coming through the door at the top of the Picture Gallery to chat at midday, so no pressure, of course, never having built this cake," Cairns explained in the show.
It was then revealed that the team had been forced to remove a door from its hinges in order to get the cake trolley to pass through.
Among pictures taken of the preparations on the day, Cairns explained that, luckily, the Queen saw the funny side.
"When the Queen came to see us, the cake wasn't completely finished. I remember her saying "I hear that you've been dismantling my house?" the cake designer added.
She continued: "I said to her: "We had to take a door down from the room below for the trolley to go through with the cake. But it was all put back in the end so it was fine."
The new show comes almost exactly a decade after the Royal couple got married at a much-anticipated ceremony attended by a host of well-known faces on April 29, 2011.
Elsewhere in the exciting show, family friends and insiders will also reflect on the big day as well as staff such as the dress embroider, Met Police commander and royal historians.
Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith also said in the show: "It’s a fairy tale beyond fairy tales. We come from really humble stock. My father was a painter and decorator, mum was an accounts clerk and their eldest granddaughter was at Westminster Abbey about to marry the future king of this country.”
