Queen resumes normal duties following Covid

The Queen is set to resume in-person engagements next week for the first time since she tested positive for Covid-19, reports The Times. Some of her engagements last week were cancelled as she continued to suffer with cold-like symptoms, but fears for her health were alleviated after she carried out video engagements on Tuesday and Thursday.

Although it is understood she has now recovered, a cautious approach to her duties will remain. “The plan going forward is very much back to before the Queen contracted Covid,” a source said. She plans to attend the Commonwealth Service on March 14, followed by a thanksgiving service for the Duke of Edinburgh on March 29.

Her Majesty tested positive for the virus on February 20 and Buckingham Palace reported at the time that she was suffering from cold-like symptoms. She continued to carry out light duties, however, such as her daily red box and sending congratulations to the Team GB women’s curling team after achieved gold at the Winter Olympics.

It is believed that the Queen had contracted the virus amid cases at Windsor Castle. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall also tested positive several days apart in February.
