Queen reportedly took 'secret visit' to visit horses amid concerns over health

The Queen secretly went to visit her horses that are taking part in the Royal Windsor Horse show after sparking health concerns earlier this week. Her Majesty went to see her horses after missing out on the first day of the four-day contest.

The Queen saw her horses at the Royal Mews at Windsor Castle, reports The Sun newspaper. Health concerns were sparked by the Queen cancelling her attendance at the Queen's Speech earlier this week.

Birmingham Live reports that the Prince of Wales attended on behalf of Her Majesty and that she was understood to be watching the speech on television from Windsor Castle. On Wednesday this week, the Queen still made her weekly phone call with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

A source said: “If she has horses competing there is a fair chance she would make an effort to attend.” The Queen, 96, was secretly admitted to hospital for "preliminary investigations" and had her first overnight stay in hospital for eight years on October 20 2021.

Concern for her health mounted when she pulled out of more high-profile engagements, including the Cop26 climate change summit and the Festival of Remembrance. There were fears for her health when she caught Covid, testing positive on February 20 2022. The triple-vaccinated Queen suffered from mild cold-like symptoms, but said the virus left her "very tired and exhausted".
