Two-goal hero Ally Roy revelled in his devastating display for Queens as they dumped Annan 3-1 in their midweek Premier League Cup group clash.
He added two splendid goals to Ruari Paton’s first-half headed opener in an entertaining clash at Galabank before both sets of supporters as lockdown restrictions continued to ease.
Roy flicked in a sizzling second before killing the game off with a neat, low shot across the keeper following an incredible run by skipper Willie Gibson.
Roy said: “My header was not bad. It was a good way to get my first goal at Queens.
“It was a good result and I am happy to have scored my first couple of goals for the club.
“It’s a brilliant feeling and gives your confidence a boost and puts a spring in your step. Now I have to keep it up.
“Every striker wants to score as many goals as he can and I want to play as much as I can but that is for the gaffer to decide.
“I have set a target in my mind for how many I want to get, but I don’t want to put pressure on myself.

“I want to have a good season and play as much as I can – that’s the aim for me.
“Now we have Motherwell tomorrow and they are obviously the hardest game in the group by their league position in the Premiership.
“Hopefully we can get a good result.”
Meantime, Scott Dunn was also delighted to produce a dazzling display for Doonhamers in the Queens defence and said: “I am pleased to get my first start and I enjoyed it.
“And it was good to get the result as well.
“I am glad to get into the starting XI and we did well at the back.
“I was in the reserves last year and this was a good opportunity to come up into the first team in pre-season and now play in the first team.
“I want to play first-team football – that’s the dream.
“The experienced boys, like Willie Gibson, around me all helped and now we move onto Motherwell.
“It’s the gaffer’s decision who plays and we will just need to see what happens.”
