Queen of the South 0 Kilmarnock 1 as Ayrshire side spark late scenes to bag dramatic winner

Late scenes in Dumfries ensured Kilmarnock headed back up the A76 with all three points.

A frustrating afternoon was made sweet as Jason Naismith fired home a winner in the dying minutes at Palmerston.

It leaves the Ayrshire side with six points from six after two matches.

Chris Burke attempted to find Fraser Murray at the back post with a low cross in the 18th minute, but it was blocked well inside the six yard box by the Queens defence and out for a corner.

Killie had the ball in the 25th minute when Liam Polworth turned in a Burke shot, but the midfielder was deemed to be offside and it was ruled out.

Euan East tried his luck for the hosts five minutes before half time as he fired a speculative effort from 30 yards, but it sailed wide leaving Zach Hemming untroubled.

Burke hoped to give his side the lead with a free kick from 20 yards on the stroke of half time, but his effort blasted off the wall as whistler Alan Newlands blew for the break.

The hosts were incredibly close to taking the lead in the 49th minute through Roberto Nditi, but his powerful effort skimmed the crossbar and went over.

Brandon Haunstrup was booked on the hour mark after challenging the Queens goalkeeper Josh Rae.

Killie were awarded an indirect free kick in the 64th minute after a pass back, but the resulting effort from Fraser Murray was well blocked by the rushing Queens wall and a rebound was fired over the crossbar.

In the 67th minute the home fans were off their seats as Ruari Paton was sprinting towards the box, but his early shot flew well off target leaving the Queens attackers waiting for a cross fuming.

Scott Robinson came on for his Killie debut (in his second spell) in the 70th minute, and four minutes later he had the best chance of the game as he forced young sub goalkeeper Charlie Cowie into a top save after a shot from 25 yards.

And two minutes later Robinson was involved again as he laid the ball off to Blair Alston on the edge of the area, and his effort went agonisingly wide.

Innes Cameron had a wonderful chance to win the match in the 84th minute, but he couldn't divert his header on target after doing well to get into space.

It was jubilation in the final minutes as Naismith popped up to fire home the winner for Killie.
