The Queen of Teen Prize has been cancelled after losing sponsorship from the Book People.

Launched in 2008, the award was established to recognise excellence in YA and teen fiction and was voted for by teen readers.

The final Queen of Teen award was won in 2014 by James (now Juno) Dawson, author of Cruel Summer, Hollow Pike and Say Her Name. Past winners of the biannual award include Louise Rennison and Cathy Cassidy.

Last year the Book People also cancelled its sponsorship of the Red House Children’s Book Awards.

Recently the company has undergone restructuring following investment by venture capitalists, seeing the stepping down of CEO Seni Glaister who was replaced by William Wellesley.
