Queen may ban military uniforms at Prince Phillip's funeral

The Queen may ban wearing military uniforms at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral on Saturday.

She is understood to have told her family to forgo wearing military uniforms to save her son Prince Andrew and Grandson Prince Harry's blushes according to the Mirror.

Prince Happy was stripped of his honorary ranks when he quit his role as a senior royal.

Therefore he could be the only member of the family to be wearing a suit at Prince Phillip's funeral.

The Mirror also reports there was also "serious Navy displease" at being dragged into a row over Prince Andrew possibly wearing an admiral's uniform.

He was forced to take a step back from all royal roles after a disastrous appearance on BBC Newsnight in November 2019.

He faced questions over his friendship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

A royal source said: “The Queen and the rest of the family want nothing to detract from what is most important, commemorating the Duke’s remarkable life.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave up their His and Her Royal Highness titles are splitting from The Firm.

They agreed to stop using the term 'royal' in official correspondence and in February, the Queen stripped them of their honorary titles which confirmed they won't return as working members of the Royal Family.

However, it is possible that Prince Harry will be referred to as the Duke of Sussex for the funeral service.

The title was bestowed to him as a wedding present in 2018, although if not referred to by the title, a clear distinction will be drawn between him, his brother and his dad.
