Queen hiring someone to go through royal secrets - and will pay them £24,000 a year

The Queen is looking to hire someone to sort through lots of royal treasures - and will pay them £24,000 a year to do so.

Based at Windsor Castle, the Digitisation Technician role will involve helping with the Royal Family archives, with a start date of February 2022.

Whoever gets the role will be contracted to work a 37.5 hour week and get 33 days of holiday, inclusive of Bank Holidays, as well as a contribution pension scheme.

The vacancy will pay a salary of £24,000 and will involve producing "high quality images of documentary items, before transferring them to permanent storage".

The advert continues: "Joining our team of experts, your challenge will be to digitise material held by the Royal Archives and the Royal Collection, producing valuable content for high profile public access.

"You’ll analyse every digital image for quality and metadata compliance, carrying out vital quality assurance checks."

Whoever goes for the job must be ready to work hard, with the Royal Household website saying there will be tough deadlines and the role will "stretch you".

But if you're up for a challenge, then you'll be supported all the way and will get to work with some "fascinating collections".

The ideal candidate for the role should have experience of capturing and producing high quality digital images.

They should also have previous experience in an archival role.

A strong candidate will have a 'meticulous eye for detail' as well as 'good organisational and planning skills'.

The deadline to get an application in for the job is January 7, 2022.

And the Digitisation Technician is not the only job that the Queen has recently been looking to fill.

One individual could get paid around £70,000 to be the head of fire, health and safety at Buckingham Palace, contracted for 37.5 hours a week.

You'll get to lead a team of about 30 and be focused on creating a "sustainable and safe future" for the Royal Household's "historic buildings"

Windsor Castle is currently also hiring for a gardener, which will pay from £19,500 plus 15 per cent employer contribution pension scheme.

Responsibilities of the gardener include "helping to shape the future of the gardens" as well as planting "new shrubbery, bulbs and seasonal flower displays" and "ensuring that they continue to provide a spectacular setting for a historic building."

If you fancy yourself the assistant curator of prints and drawings at Windsor Castle, "taking on a wide range of curatorial activities" and making sure the collection is "accessible to all" you could get a salary of between £24,000 and £26,000 if you apply to the role.

There's not a shortage of interesting jobs going for the Queen at the moment, as she was recently hiring for a letter writer.

The role involves going through all the letters that the Queen receives and sends out "well-composed" responses to them.
