The Queen has been given a new corgi puppy by Prince Andrew a month after the last one he gave her died.
The six-week-old male replaces dorgi Fergus who sadly died from a heart problem aged just five months.
The unnamed puppy was presented to the Queen on Thursday, on what would have been Prince Philip's 100th birthday.
It also marks the monarch's 95th birthday, which was yesterday, and was presented by Andrew, 61, and daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, The Sun reports.
The new addition will fill the hole left by dachshund-corgi cross Fergus, who was one of a pair also given to her by Andrew as the Duke of Edinburgh fought illness in hospital in February.
The puppies were brought in to get Her Majesty through a tough period, with Philip ill and the situation with grandson Prince Harry, who had moved to America, continuing to cause anguish in the Royal household.
It had been thought that after the death of beloved corgi Vulcan in October the Queen had given up on owning pets.
Her Majesty would walk Fergus and Muick – pronounced Mick and named after a Loch Muick on the Balmoral Estate in Scotland – around the grounds of Windsor Castle every day.
But last month, a month on from the Duke's death aged 99, she was rocked by a second tragedy as Fergus passed away unexpectedly.
Fergus had a heart defect since birth but in his short life is said to have bought the Queen considerable happiness.
A source at the time said: "Fergus had a problem with his heart at birth, but lasted much longer than they thought.
"Fergus was a special little puppy who saw Her Majesty through a difficult time of loss and grief.
"He was so affectionate and gave much joy. Muick, the other puppy, is thriving."
The puppy had been named after the Queen’s uncle, Cpt Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who was killed aged 26 in 1915 as he led an attack on German lines at the First World War Battle of Loos in France.
She was left with Muick and older dorgi Candy, who is the last remaining relative of Susan, who was given to the Queen on her 18th birthday.
