Queen gave 'Meghan Markle a dressing down for scolding Windsor Castle staff'

Meghan Markle got a dressing down from the Queen over remarks she made at Windsor Castle before her wedding, a royal author has claimed.

Before getting married to Prince Harry in May last year the Duchess of Sussex travelled to Windsor.

She was testing some of the food that was going to be served at the reception.

Author Katie Nicholl claims that the former Suits actress insisted on there being a 'macrobiotic alternative' for some of the Hollywood star guests who follow the diet which derives from Zen Buddhism.

She told Yahoo's Royal Box : "(Meghan) got very upset when she felt that she could taste egg in a dish when she was told there was no egg in there, and she said, "No, I can taste it, I can taste there's egg in this dish."

'I think there was a bit of an upset when suddenly the Queen walked in, because of course, this was Windsor Castle, this is her home.

"And she just quietly took Meghan to the side and said, "Meghan, in this family we don't speak to people like that".'

In November last year it was reported the monarch 'had words' with Prince Harry over his 'difficult bride's' choice of tiara.

The Duchess of Sussex was said to have had her 'heart set' on a tiara containing emeralds but was told she couldn't wear it because the green stones might have come from Russia.

Royal baby mania builds as Queen's car spotted in Windsor police escort

A royal insider told The Sun that the Queen stepped in and told Harry: 'She gets what tiara she's given by me.'

Meghan is due to give birth any day now to her and Prince Harry's first child.

Earlier today it was announced the Duke of Sussex was cutting his trip to the Netherlands short, only spending one day abroad and not the planned two.

The couple have broken with tradition and decided to keep the details surrounding the birth a secret, which means nobody knows where they've decided to have the baby.

The little royal will be seventh in line to the throne, and the Queen and Prince Philip's seventh great-grandchild - and fans are on the lookout for any sign that the time is finally here.
