Queen Elizabeth II found it easier to bond with Kate Middleton and Prince William's children than Camilla, analysis shows.
Her Majesty, 94, finds it much easier to 'get involved' with the Cambridge children than their step grandmother Camilla Parker Bowles, says body language expert Judi James.
The Monarch has nine great grandchildren including Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis who live at Kensington Palace with Kate and William.
Among the Queen's grandchildren, Prince William has three children, Prince Harry has one child with another on the way, Eugenie has one, Peter Phillips has two children and Zara Tindall has two with a third on the way.
The Cambridges, who are highest in line to the throne are the children Her Majesty is seen with most in public, reports Express.co.uk.
She has been photographed at their high profile Christenings and appears to have a knack with the youngsters.
Pictures often show her with a warm smile as she leans down to speak to her great grandchildren.
Analysing such images of the Queen with William's children, she told Express.co.uk: "The Queen clearly found it much easier to get involved with her small great-grand-children, even bending low to communicate with a very chatty-looking Prince George.
"Bending like this and using eye-contact suggests a more openly doting relationship and a desire to engage and register attentive listening."
Referring to Camilla, Judi analysed what she referred to as Camilla's "wary-looking displays" with Kate Middleton's children.
Describing Charles as "a bit of a hands-off-looking grandad" she said Camilla might have been left to her own devices to clarify her role with the children along with possible help from William and Kate.
She added: "The role of step-grandmother can always be a tricky one and, given Camilla’s history with George, Charlotte and Louis’s real grandma Diana.
"It must have been more difficult to navigate than most."
The Queen is affectionate with her granddaughter Zara Tindall, who is the daughter of Prince Anne.
Judi claimed their close body language in public could be due to the absence of a working relationship between the pair.
She said their strong bond of affection could be seen in their body language through three key signals including their mirroring, their proximity and their touch.
The expert speculated that Zara is probably the most good-humoured looking and the most openly tactile and spontaneous looking member of the royal family.
She said this appears to have a positive effect on the Queen and allows her to be seen as more openly demonstrative in public than with the majority of her other relatives.
Queen Elizabeth II is the longest serving Monarch of Great Britain and the longest reining female Monarch in world history.
She has four children, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
