The Queen is facing up to huge cuts to the millions of pounds she receives from taxpayers each year as the UK recovers from the Covid crisis.
The monarch currently receives around £82 million from her subjects every year, but could be forced to get by on a far smaller sum in future, insiders report.
The government is in talks with the palace about reducing the amount the public shells out for the monarchy.
At the moment royals receive 25 per cent of the Crown Estate's profits, but this is likely to be scaled back as the economy recovers from the pandemic.
The Queen, 94, is said to be "happy to play her part" and tighten the belt.

The Sovereign Grant agreement is due to expire next year, with officials now negotiating a new deal.
Last year the Queen received £82.4 million from taxpayers - a sum unlikely to be matched when a new arrangement is struck.
An insider told The Daily Mail : "The last settlement was exceptional and we cannot expect that to be repeated.
"Her Majesty is very much aware of the hardships people have been through during the pandemic and is happy to play her part in cutting costs."

Before the current agreement, the royals received 15 per cent of Crown Estate profits, but this was increased in spite of sweeping public service cuts.
This was to pay for refurbishments at Buckingham Palace, expected to cost more than £360 million over 10 years.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step away from the Firm and Prince Andrew stepping back from public duties have seen costs fall.
However job losses could be in the pipeline, the Mail reports.
A royal source told the newspaper: "The five-year review into Sovereign Grant funding is due to start in the coming financial year and it would be premature to speculate on the outcome."

Prince Harry famously complained about being "financially cut off" by his family after he quit, claiming he was forced to make deals with Netflix and Spotify to pay for his family's security.
Harry said: "My family literally cut me off financially.
"I've got what my mum left me, and without that, we would not have been able to do this. I think she saw it coming."
But a friend of Charles accused Harry of "f****** hypocrisy", The Sunday Times reports.
The pal pointed out that the couple said they wanted to achieve financial independence when they quit the royal family.
And a source close to the Prince of Wales said: “It was a surprise to hear he’d been cut off, given the bank statements.
"The prince continued to provide Harry and Meghan with financial support after their move to America, while they found their feet.”
