Queen Consort Camilla has two children but they are not royals

Upon King Charles’ accession to the throne, his wife Camilla Parker Bowles became Queen Consort. This is a title held by the wife of the King and was last given to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, during the reign of King George VI.

Camilla (nee Shand) married the then Prince Charles on April 9, 2005, in a civil ceremony and became the Duchess of Cornwall. She had been married previously between 1973 and 1995 to Andrew Parker Bowles, a British Army officer, and had two children with him.

Tom Parker Bowles, 47, and Laura Lopes, 44, are Camilla’s only children but they do not hold any royal titles despite her long standing position in the royal family. With King Charles' coronation, the titles held by royal family members do change, so many thought that Camilla's children would gain a title such as duke and duchess or even prince or princess.

Despite Camilla’s position within the royal institution her children remain private citizens without status or title. Even though Tom and Laura are close members of the family through marriage, they themselves are not royal and will not become royal with their mother's coronation.

Neither Tom nor Laura have ever shown an interest in becoming publicly involved in royal matters beyond family events, such as the Queen 's funeral. They are rarely seen at royal occasions and prefer to chase their own career paths within the arts and media.

Who is Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles?

Thomas Henry Charles Parker Bowles was born on December 18, 1974. He holds the unique position of having the King as both his step-father and his godfather.

Tom is a well known food critic and writer and has written seven cookbooks since his career began in 1997. He appears regularly as a critic on MasterChef as well as a judge on ITV’s Food Glorious Food.

He is food editor for Esquire and a contributing editor for Conde Nast Traveller. Country Life, Harper's Bazaar, and Town and Country all get regular content from him too.

In 2005, Tom married Sara Buys, an associate editor of Harpers & Queen magazine, and they had two children together. Lola was born in 2007 and Frederick followed three years later.

The couple split in 2018 and Tom began dating journalist Alice Procope the next year. Alice died in 2021 at her home after being diagnosed with cancer seven months earlier.

Who is Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopes?

Like her brother, Laura Lopes has made a name for herself independently of her royal ties. Laura is an art curator and became co-founding partner and gallery director of London's Eleven gallery in 2005.

Laura Rose Parker Bowles was born on January 1, 1978, and was raised in Wiltshire. She was an intern at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and then became the motoring correspondent for Tatler in 2001.

Laura married chartered accountant Harry Lopes in 2006, an event that was attended by over 400 people including then Princes Charles, William and Harry. She has three children with her husband; one daughter, Eliza, born in 2008 and two twin boys called Gus and Louis born a year later.

The children have been seen on the royal balcony with their grandmother and the King at previous royal events. Eliza was also a bridesmaid at the wedding of William and Kate, the new Prince and Princess of Wales.
