Queen celebrates her most successful year in horse racing as she wins £460k

The Queen celebrates her most successful year for her racehorses as they rack up a whopping £460,000 prize money in just nine months.

So far, Her Majesty's racehorses have dominated the races winning 32 so far this year as part of the season is still to come.

Her latest win came on Monday as her horse Fresh Fancy won the race at Kempton Park.

An insider told The Sun : "The Queen rarely misses a race in which one of her horses is racing and has a television so she can catch the drama.

“It would have no doubt cheered her up with everything that is going on.”

Out of her 32 winners this year, 30 of them have been in flat racing, while two came in races over fences.

According to The Sun, her best year before this was 2019 when she had 29 winners. Before that 1992, 2014 and 2016 were her best years with 23 winners.

The Queen is a known horse lover and owner and has had previously had winners in prestigious races such as the 2,000 Guineas, 1,000 Guineas, the Oaks and St Ledger.

Next year, horse racing will form a part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend from June 2 to June 5, when she celebrates 70 years on the throne.

On Saturday, June 4, she will attend the Epsom Derby - the world's most prestigious flat race.

It is the one major race she has yet to win - and already hopes are being pinned on her horse Reach for the Moon to claim victory.

The last time a monarch had a winner in the race was her great-grandad Edward VII in 1909.

Racing broadcaster Cornelius Lysaght said: "If on her Platinum weekend, she finally won the Derby, it would be an astonishing thing. It is the Holy Grail.”

Other events set to mark the Platinum Jubilee next year include Trooping the Colour returning to London and a music concert at Buckingham Palace.

There will also be The Big Jubilee Lunch and a pageant featuring over 5,000 people from across the UK and the Commonwealth.
