It's rare to see the Queen without a handbag on her arm, and people regularly question exactly what she keeps inside.
Does she carry items like the rest of us take out such as a wallet or mobile phone? Or does it hold more sentimental items such as family photos or keepsakes?
Well according to one expert, she often carries around an unusual item - a penknife, reports MyLondon.
Phil Dampier, author of What's In The Queen's Handbag: And Other Royal Secrets, revealed it dates back to when she was a child.
He told Hello! that her bag also carries treats for her corgis "sometimes a crossword cut from a newspaper by a servant in case she has time to kill" and "a throwback to her days as a girl guide – a penknife".

The Queen joined the Girl Guides in 1937 when she was 11 years old when a special company the 1st Buckingham Palace Guide Company was set up.
But that's not all she carries in her bag.
In her book Elizabeth the Queen: The Woman Behind The Throne, Sally Bedell revealed the Queen was like pretty much any woman and never goes anywhere without her lippy and mirror.

She also reportedly carries a packet of mints, a pair of reading glasses and a fountain pen as well as sweetener for her drinks.
While another unusual item she carries is her own portable hook. Apparently, she whips out the hook and discreetly attaches it to her table to hide away her bag.
It means she can easily reach things and she doesn't have to put that precious bag on the floor.
As well as looking great and being able to carry whatever she needs, the Queen's handbags have another purpose - to send messages to her staff and ladies-in-waiting.
A shift of the bag from one hand to another is an indication she is ready to move on from whoever she is speaking to.
If she wants to leave an event altogether, the Monarch places her handbag on a table.
