Queen Camilla celebrates birthday with gift for every child in Year 6

  • Queen Camilla is celebrating her 79th birthday by arranging for a special edition of Katherine Rundell's Impossible Creatures to be given to every Year 6 and P6 child across the UK this Christmas.
  • This initiative underscores her dedication to children's literacy, a key focus for her as patron of the National Literacy Trust .
  • The fantasy novel, Impossible Creatures , has garnered significant recognition, including being named Waterstones Book of the Year in 2023 and winning the British Book Awards Children’s Fiction Book of the Year in 2024.
  • To mark her birthday, Buckingham Palace also released a new photograph of the Queen.
  • The photo, taken in June at Hillsborough Castle, features her in a blue dress adorned with a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch that previously belonged to Queen Elizabeth.
