Queen Camilla announces plans for new BBC documentary

  • Queen Camilla announced a new BBC documentary exploring her and her late father’s love of literature, which will be screened in the autumn.
  • The announcement took place at a Clarence House reception celebrating the fifth anniversary of her Queen’s Reading Room book club.
  • The event was attended by the King, Hollywood stars Stanley Tucci and Sigourney Weaver, and Booker Prize-winning novelist Sir Ben Okri.
  • Inaugural Queen’s Reading Room medals were awarded to Selina Brown for transforming lives through Black British literature and Liz Waterland for her services to literature in Lincolnshire.
  • Camilla spoke about the book club's growth since its lockdown launch, its mission to demonstrate that “books make life better”, and its partnerships with organisations addressing domestic violence and homelessness.
