Queen 'burst out laughing' at Meghan Markle's Christmas present

A royal insider has revealed the joke present Meghan Markle bought the Queen during her first Christmas at the Sandringham country estate.

It's tradition for the Royal family to buy each other humorous and creative gifts during the festive period and it seems like the Duchess of Sussex got it spot on back in 2017.

According to Mirror Online , she reportedly bought her grandmother-in-law a singing hamster which caused the Monarch to "burst out laughing".

A source said: “Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty.

“It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy.”

However, the toy hamster met an unfortunate end after it was then mauled to pieces by the Queen's corgis.

Earlier this month the Duchess of Cambridge explained that the Royals open one present each on Christmas Eve, a change from their tradition of opening all their gifts at that time.

Speaking to Mary Berry on her festive TV show, Kate said: "William's family's tradition is to open one Christmas present on Christmas eve, which is really lovely."
