Queen and Adam Lambert record 'We Are the Champions' from lockdown

Queen and Adam Lambert have recorded a pared-back version of “We Are the Champions” from their homes, while in coronavirus quarantine.

The video, which was posted to the musicians’s Instagram accounts, sees Lambert alter the lyrics towards the end, changing the popular refrain to “You are the champions”, in an apparent tribute to their fans’s own resilience during the pandemic.

May captioned the video: ”This version is for those of you who like things to be the right way up.”

The Queen guitarist has kept himself busy while in quarantine by recording guitar tutorials and sharing old gig videos.

On Instagram, he made his feelings about the crisis clear.

“I feel this might be THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I EVER POSTED,” he wrote. “There is so much false information out there — people saying the coronavirus is not a threat — even that it doesn’t exist.”

He continued: “our own Government has failed to act promptly, acting on catastrophically bad advice, which will eventually be the cause of thousands of deaths.”

After the death of Freddie Mercury, Queen performed with Paul Rodgers as lead vocalist from 2005 to 2009.

Lambert then took over in 2011, and has collaborated with the rock band regularly since, touring alongside May and Roger Taylor.
