Queanbeyan Public students remain at home as COVID shuts down some schools

Queanbeyan Public School will remain closed for another day following a COVID-19 exposure at the school.

"Our school will remain non-operational, Thursday, November 4, 2021, for the on-site attendance of staff and students to allow time for contact tracing," a letter from principal Wendy Attwood to parents on Wednesday said.

On Tuesday, NSW Health told students and staff to self-isolate following COVID-19 exposure at the school. A social media post said the school would be closed indefinitely for contact tracing and cleaning.

An outbreak has shut down Wanniassa School's junior campus as well.

Seventeen cases of COVID-19 have been linked to the Wanniassa School outbreak.

There are more than 120 close contacts associated with the outbreak. Anyone present at the junior campus or after school care since Monday, October 25, was directed to get tested and isolate until receiving a result.

Ainslie Primary School, Queanbeyan South Public School and Queanbeyan West Public School students were sent back home only days after going back to face-to-face classes.

Parents were notified on Thursday, October 28, that a confirmed case visited the Ainslie school campus on Monday, October 25, from 9am to 3pm and Tuesday, October 26, from 9am to 12.05pm.

Anyone who attended the site at the exposure times was asked to stay home until receiving further advice.

The two Queanbeyan schools were closed on Friday, October 29, for contact tracing and cleaning after being exposed to the virus.
