Queanbeyan man hides in bushes from Bay police

Police have charged a Queanbeyan man with six offences after he hid behind a bush before his arrest in Batemans Bay on Saturday night, May 9.

Police spotted a car moving "erratically" on the Princes Highway near the industrial area, Cranbrook Road, about 10pm, a Batemans Bay Police spokesman said.

The 48-year-old driver stopped at a carpark nearby and tried to hide behind bushes, police said.

The man allegedly resisted arrest and officers eventually handcuffed him.

The man allegedly had methamphetamine and cannabis on him, and he was taken to Batemans Bay Police Station.

Police will allege he was also holding a significant amount of cash, and he was charged with dealing with proceeds of crime.

The man was also charged with having custody of a knife in a public place, driving a vehicle while never licensed on a road (first offence), two counts of possessing prohibited drugs, and resisting police.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to attend Batemans Bay Court on July 20.
