Quartet of courageous women win awards

Four journalists have been honoured by the International Women's Media Foundation: Jill Carroll, the reporter from the Christian Science Monitor who was held hostage in Iraq; May Chidiac, a former broadcaster in the Lebanon who was critical of Syria and was injured by a car bomb; Gao Yu, who was imprisoned from 1993 to 1999 in China for "leaking state secrets"; and Elena Poniatowska Amor, one of Mexico's foremost pioneering journalists.
