Quarterback Russell Wilson is Seahawks’ winning factor

The Seattle Seahawks lost their last three games – all in primetime – and all three contests had one very important similarity . . .  no Russell Wilson. Seattle’s starting quarterback has been sidelined for the last three weeks after injuring the finger on his throwing hand in the Thursday night loss to the Rams.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll knows just how important Wilson really is to the game plan overall.

“Let’s say it this way, I’ve been here a long time, and if we didn’t have Russell, I probably wouldn’t have been here a long time,” Carroll said Monday night. “Because think of all the magic that he’s created in the years. He’s got numbers and stats, and fourth quarters, thises and thats, and all of that stuff.

“One of the winningest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.”

Backup quarterback Geno Smith has been giving it his all these last three outings, but it’s becoming more and more obvious just what Seattle needs to find a way to win.

“You know, Russell’s a factor,” Carroll explained. “He’s a fantastic, positive factor and always has been. And, I mean, those were exactly his time. That’s his time. That’s when he shines. And so, we miss him. And in the meantime, we’re going to keep fighting and clawing, and doing everything we can.”
