Quarter drink gravy from jug as survey reveals Christmas dinner habits

Italian-American restaurant group Frankie & Benny’s surveyed the nation to find out what makes Brits tick when it comes to eating their Christmas lunch. Some of the results were as expected and some were a little surprising (and quirky) to say the least.

Whilst almost 3/4 (73%) of Brits will be tucking into a traditional Xmas dinner on the big day, nearly 1/3 (27%) have confirmed that they’ll be enjoying other alternative food options without all the trimmings. And when it comes to the most popular time of day to sit down and devour their festive feast:

  • Over 1/2 (58%) admitted that lunch (12-3PM) is still the big winner

  • Nearly 1/5 (13%) said they would prefer to dine in the evening (6-9PM)

  • Brits love eating Xmas dinner so much, 1 million would have it for breakfast (6AM-12PM).

Furthermore, there’s no doubt that Brits are still partial to enjoying some roast potatoes, stuffing and turkey, but the research found plenty of non-traditionalists out there:

  • 1/3 (27%) admitting they will be enjoying other non-festive dishes on Christmas Day

  • 1/3 (34%) would secretly enjoy having a full English breakfast

  • 1 in 5 would prefer eating a pizza

  • 1 in 5 are dreaming about chowing down on a delicious burger

The research we commissioned has certainly thrown up some surprises, but it’s really helped us to launch an exciting, new festive menu – so we say don’t go with the crowd, be yourself and ‘do your thing’!”
