Quarantine Scotland list of countries expands as restrictions reimposed on France

Scots returning from France to the UK will have to quarantine for 14 days after the government reimposed restrictions.

The Netherlands, Monaco, Malta, Turks & Caicos and Aruba have also been added to the UK's quarantine list.

It comes after a huge surge in cases of coronavirus in the countries, with the latest 14-day figures showing 32.1 coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in France - compared with 18.5 in the UK.

The restrictions will come into place after 4am on Saturday.

After this time, anyone arriving in the UK from these countries will need to head straight to the address provided on your public health passenger locator form and isolate there for 14 days.

You cannot go to the shops, out to work, to school or other public places and cannot have visitors, unless they are providing emergency assistance.

Before the announcement was made, Mr Johnson said: "We have got to be absolutely ruthless about this, even with our closest and dearest friends and partners.

"I think everybody understands that."

Scottish Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf confirmed the move will apply to Scotland in line with the four nations approach.

Nicola Sturgeon also tweeted to confirm the new measures.
