Quandre Diggs on being with Seahawks: ‘The game is fun again’

When the Seattle Seahawks acquired safety Quandre Diggs during the 2019 season, they knew they were getting an explosive athlete and playmaker who was unhappy with his current situation.

Diggs proved to be a huge asset for this team down the stretch, and now he heads into an offseason with a fresh mentality and a rediscovered love for the game of football.

“When I came in midseason, it was like thrown into the fire, which is totally fine with me,” Diggs told 710 ESPN’s Danny and Gallant. “But being able to train and being able to prepare my mind and go into that atmosphere, that environment and just play ball, you know, it’s dope.”

Diggs is eager to get together with his teammates – something he is unable to do thanks to COVID-19 – and said he has maintained contact with Seattle’s younger defensive backs, including Ugo Amadi and Marquise Blair, and he reached out to newcomer Quinton Dunbar, who Seattle acquired in a trade earlier this offseason.

“I talked to Q a little bit last week,” Diggs said. “He’s excited to be there. He’s excited to be a part of the secondary to help us put together a good year. Add him to the secondary, it’s going to be fun. I like Q’s game. He’s a former receiver so you know he sees the game a different way – he sees it through the offensive lens.”

Diggs appeared in five games for the Seahawks last year, recording three interceptions, 21 combined tackles and a touchdown as the team’s new free safety. He looks to be a big part of this team’s future, and no one is happier he is on the team than Diggs himself.

“I think that’s what really means a lot to me is that I’m genuinely happy knowing I’m a Seattle Seahawk and knowing that the game is fun again for me,” Diggs said.
