Quandre Diggs has put himself in a position to play Monday night

Even though he has yet to play in a game for the Seattle Seahawks, safety Quandre Diggs is more than ready to step in and contribute – which is expected to happen for the first time on Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers.

“Quandre has made it back to practice,” coach Pete Carroll said on Saturday. “He’s made it through it so he’s put himself in a position to play this week.”

Diggs has had three weeks of being around the team to get acquainted with Seattle’s defensive scheme, and according to Carroll, he has picked things up with ease.

“He’s got the whole thing,” Carroll said of the playbook. “He’s had three weeks of preparation, he’s been in on everything and been around the walk throughs and he studies really well. Football totally makes sense to him, it’s not a mystery at all, so he’s ready to play. We would not be restricted in any way.”

Seattle’s starting safety tandem is expected to be Marquise Blair and Bradley McDougald, although Diggs is capable of playing either position in a pinch. He also has experience as a nickel cornerback, although it is unclear if Seattle is planning to use him in that capacity going forward.

Regardless, having Diggs in the fold will make Seattle’s defense stronger, and they’ll need all the help they can get on Monday night against San Francisco.
