Quandre Diggs a long shot to play in Week 9 vs. Buccaneers

The Seattle Seahawks pulled off one major acquisition near the trade deadline this season, landing defensive back Quandre Diggs from the Lions.

It looks like the team won’t get to see Diggs in game action until Week 10, however, after coach Pete Carroll said he is a long shot to play this Sunday against the Buccaneers.

“I’m going to go with him all the way through the weekend here,” Carroll said on Wednesday. “We got to get him out on the practice field before we can give him a chance. It’s going be a long shot for him to make it this week.”

Diggs didn’t suit up last week with a hamstring injury, and now looks in danger of missing his second consecutive game and his third of the season.

The Seahawks acquired Diggs because of his ability to play both safety spots and nickelback, helping them fill some holes while Bradley McDougald and Lano Hill nursed injuries.

McDougald is at full speed now, though the recent designation of Tedric Thompson on injured reserve allows Diggs to compete with rookie Marquise Blair for snaps at free safety.
