Quake of magnitude 6.1 strikes northwest off Tonga: USGS

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck northwest of the South Pacific island nation of Tonga, the United States Geological Survey said on Monday.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake, which the agency said hit at a depth of 49 km (30 miles), about 47 km (29 miles) northwest of the town of Neiafu.
