QPS officer faces court on drug charge

A QPS administration officer has faced court charged with attempting to possess a dangerous drug. (AAP)

A Queensland Police Service administration officer has appeared in court charged with attempting to possess a dangerous drug.

Michael Nathan Richards faced Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.

The 44-year-old is on bail and his case will be mentioned again on August 18.

The Northern Region administration officer was charged on July 11 and has been suspended from duty.

Magistrate Ross Mack excused him from appearing at the next mention.
