QPR match-winner Nakhi Wells admits he got 'lucky' against Leeds United

Queens Park Rangers striker Nakhi Wells has admitted he got "lucky" for his winning goal against Leeds United.

The Whites suffered back-to-back Championship defeats after Wells' first-half strike proved decisive.

However, the QPR attacker, on loan from Burnley, was extremely fortunate for the goal to stand, with the ball twice hitting his hand before he put the ball past Kiko Casilla from close range.

It was an infringement that was missed by both the referee and his assistant and proved costly, with Leeds now winning just one of their last seven Championship matches.

To make matters worse, Patrick Bamford missed a second-half penalty whilst Kalvin Phillips was sent off for a reckless challenge three minutes before full-time.

However, Wells admitted that there was a touch of fortune about his decisive goal after the match, which condemned Leeds to defeat.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, he said: "I guess I am (happy there is no VAR). I still don't know what exactly happened, I think it hit my hand but not intentionally. Sometimes you deserve that bit of luck and today I got it so I'm thankful.

"Not really, there wasn't any intent for me to do anything dangerous. I think Coops (Liam Cooper) got away with one on me that he could have been sent off for which could have gone either way. The ref did well today, in my opinion."
