QPR make generous gesture by offering naming rights to Loftus Road to a local charity

QPR are looking to help widen the exposure of a local charity in the area by gifting the naming rights to Loftus Road for the duration of the 2019/20 season.

The club want to use the stadium to assist a local organisation which has a close connection to the are and the QPR fanbase and are asking for the help of the fans to do so.

Fans are being asked to submit their nomination for a charity that they think is deserving of being gifted the naming rights to Loftus Road next season with the club asking fans to take into consideration four different criteria.

These include it being local in nature, having a strong impact on the community and would benefit from broader recognition to increase the awareness of their work while also having the appropriate internal infrastructure in place to take advantage of the increased awareness and grow the impact of the charity.

The closing date for nominations is Friday May 3 and QPR will then draw up a short-list of nominations from the ones submitted and will give fans the chance to vote for their preferred vote.

QPR Chief Executive Lee Hoos has spoken with the Supporters Consultation Committee over the idea who came back with the suggestions that the charity had to mean something to local supporters and one that positively impacts the community.

Speaking about the idea, Hoos said: “I have spoken with the Supporters Consultation Committee as well as numerous individual fans and floated this idea to them.

“We spoke about how we can use Loftus Road to really help a charity get exposure they would never normally be able to achieve.

“The message that came back from the fans I spoke to was that it had to be a charity that meant something to the supporters, and it had to be a local organisation which positively impacts on the community.

“There are so many worthwhile causes out there who do incredible things, so the next question was how we decide which charity to work with. Consultation with fans is something that I have always believed in, and so it makes absolute sense to let the supporters make that decision.”

Loftus Road has been QPR's home for over 100 years and fans will be able to submit their nominations of who they think the naming rights should go to by visiting QPR's official website.
