Massimo Luongo would benefit from a move this summer says Queens Park Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand.
The ex-Tottenham and England striker admitted that his 26-year-old playmaker is up for sale at Loftus Road, with his contract set to expire in 12 months time.
And there has been significant interest in him, he says, with Nottingham Forest and Leeds United both said to be poised to pounce on the Australian international.
The Reds are in the market to replace Jack Colback in midfield following his impressive 18 months at the City Ground.
But Leeds, threatened by the prospect of losing key midfielder Kalvin Phillips to Aston Villa, could target Luongo as his replacment.
"He’s relatively young and has the opportunity to push on,” Ferdinand told The World Game.
“He has a year left with us but if he does go this summer he might be able to kick on a little bit more elsewhere."
QPR find themselves in a rare financial predicament.
In October 2017, the club were ordered to pay a world-record £40m to the Football League after breaching Finanical Fair Play regulations the season they were promoted to the Premier League.
"All our players are up for sale," he explained.
“There has been a bit of interest for Massimo. We are a club that if the right offer comes in for one of our players - especially with the FFP situation - we have to look at everything.
“It’s not just Mass specifically - it’s all the individuals at the football club.”
