QPR close to sealing Geoff Cameron return as Stoke midfielder undergoes medical

Stoke City midfielder Geoff Cameron was on Thursday morning undergoing a medical ahead of a permanent move to QPR.

The 34-year-old spent last season on loan at Loftus Road and impressed during his time in west London.

Cameron was particularly valued by former boss Steve McClaren due to his leadership qualities and QPR were eager to retain his services.

The midfielder, who can also operate in defence, has been in talks over a permanent return for a few weeks.

Cameron had one year remaining on his deal at Stoke, but it is understoo​d the club were willing to let him go for free if they could reach a financial settlement.

QPR have been very active in the transfer market so far this summer - recruiting 10 players - and remain on the hunt for attacking reinforcements.

On Wednesday, they completed the signing of Brighton's Slovenian striker Jan Mlakar on a season-long loan deal.
