QPR clash with Sheffield United called off after ‘several players and staff’ test positive for Covid

QPR’s Championship clash with Sheffield United has been called off due to a coronavirus outbreak at the London club.

The two sides were due to meet at Bramall Lane on Monday night, but the fixture will now be rescheduled for a later date, while the Rs’ home game against Swansea on Saturday must also be in doubt.

A statement from the club said: “QPR have informed the EFL that, following several positive COVID-19 tests among our players and staff, we have insufficient numbers to fulfil the fixture.

“The circumstances surrounding the postponement will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL regulations. A rearranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will update supporters with further information as soon as it is available.”

QPR are enjoying a fine season under Mark Warburton and currently sit fifth in the division, though last weekend’s defeat to Stoke City ended a six game unbeaten run.
