The chief of one of Nottingham Forest's Championship rivals believes the season will come to a conclusion - albeit probably behind closed doors.
QPR director of football Les Ferdinand doesn't believe the English Football League will follow in the footsteps of the SPFL and end the current campaign as things stand.
In the wake of the coronavirus crisis, clubs in Scotland voted on Wednesday to bring an end to the Championship, League One and League Two campaigns, though the Premiership season still has plans to resume when it is safe to do so.
The move has divided opinion in the game, and EFL chairman Rick Parry refused to rule out the prospect of his organisation doing the same earlier in the week.
But Ferdinand believes the EFL season will be played to a finish, even if it means playing games behind closed doors - as Parry suggested would be likely in an open letter to fans on Friday.
“I think the prestige of our game and what it means, I don’t think we will,” the former England international told Football Focus.
“I think we will finish the season by playing the games and the remaining games that need to be played.
“I think we have to do that just for the integrity of both the Championship and Premier League."
On games taking place without fans, he added: “We have got to understand that is the way we have got to go, as much as we don’t want to do it.
“It is what we have to do and I think it is right and true for the game of football.”
