QPR boss Steve McClaren named Championship manager of the month after leading play-off charge

Steve McClaren has been named Championship manager of the month for October after moving QPR into play-off contention.

He guided Rangers to four wins and one draw in their five matches, including impressive victories against Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.

The 57-year-old was under pressure to save his job after QPR lost their opening four matches, but he has turned things around and Rangers are now three points outside the top six.

“The key after the first four games was changing a few things and bringing in three loan players — Geoff Cameron, Nahki Wells and Tomer Hemed — was huge for us,” McClaren said. “There is a lot more to come from this team. The response of the players has been good but the main factor of why we had such a good October was the staff around me, who have been magnificent.”
