Qld toddler, woman seriously hurt by dogs

A young girl has serious chest, neck and facial injuries after a 'horrifying' dog attack in Brisbane's south, with a woman and man also injured.

Two dogs attacked and bit the toddler and a woman in her 60s at a home in Algester about 7.10pm on Thursday.

Paramedics rushed the youngster to the Queensland Children's Hospital where she is in a serious condition.

The woman in her 60s suffered a serious head injury and neck pain and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

An ambulance spokesman said the dogs involved in the attack may have been a bull mastiff breed.

"The injuries that they sustained, the puncture wounds and the injuries to both the older lady and a three-year-old were quite significant," the spokesman said.

"It was a fairly intense attack by the dogs and it must have been horrifying for the people involved and looking on."

A man in his 60s suffering back pain after falling off a 1.5 metre retaining wall during the attack, but who was not bitten, was taken to the same hospital in a stable condition.
