The Queensland government will wait another week before it makes a decision on reopening its border to greater Adelaide "before Christmas".
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk urged people to be patient after a briefing with the Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young on Monday.
She says Dr Young and Queensland Health need more time to assess the coronavirus cluster in the South Australian capital.
"Of course we do have that aspiration that everyone can travel freely before Christmas, so I'm just asking people to please be patient for another week so they can do some further detailed analysis about that." Ms Palaszczuk told reporters.
Queensland closed the border to 20 local government areas in greater Adelaide on November 16 after a virus cluster emerged there.
The SA government has now largely suppressed the outbreak, which grew to 33 cases, after a brief lockdown.
The southern state reported no new cases on Sunday, while Queensland recorded only two cases in hotel quarantine.
