Qld teen critical after taking substance

Queensland police say six teens in North Mackay needed medical help after ingesting a substance. (AAP)

A teenager is in a critical condition and another five are also in hospital after they ingested an unknown substance in north Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a home on Malcomson St, North Mackay, about 10.55am on Thursday.

Police say six teenagers - three boys and three girls - at the property needed medical treatment after ingesting a substance.

One boy, aged 15, is in a critical condition in hospital.

Police have declared a crime scene with detectives and scientific officers trying to identify the substance the teens ingested.
