Qld's Caboolture Hospital surgery review

The review found one preventable death at Caboolture hospital was caused by clinical management. (AAP)

Findings from the review into claims of preventable deaths, surgical negligence, and a culture of bullying at Queensland's Caboolture Hospital.

* 137 complaints made to a dedicated hotline, which formed part of the review.

* One preventable death was caused by clinical management after a decision to operate

* No surgeon performed outside of their scope of practice at the hospital.

* Safety and Quality reports have been substandard.

* Further training is needed for clinical incident management such as report writing, open disclosure, consumer complaint management and auditing processes.

* Concerns were raised by staff about "inappropriate behaviours and attitudes" at the hospital, noting it can have a "direct link" to poor surgical outcomes and compromise safety.

* Metro North Hospital and Health Services will support strategies to improve workplace culture.

* All cases involving identifiable patients have been reviewed.

* All cases reported through the hotline or through the media are being, or will be, followed up.

* Metro North Health has accepted the report's 19 recommendations.
