Queensland health minister Yvette D'Ath has told state parliament she was groped by a visiting dignitary when she was working as attorney-general.
Her comments were made on Wednesday as parliament debated a motion condemning the harassment and assault of women and supporting a right to safety.
"How about two years ago as the attorney-general when I was groped ... at a conference in this parliament?" Ms D'Ath said.
"This is still happening today. It has to stop," she said.
She previously shared stories of being harassed and assaulted as a teenager by much older men.
Earlier in the debate Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said boosting the number of women in boardrooms and at the cabinet table would help bring change in Australia.
"When you change the composition of the boardrooms and the cabinet tables, you change the conversation for women in this country," she said.
"What is fundamentally wrong at the moment is the lack of leadership at a federal level, because women are not sitting around that cabinet table."
Ms Palaszczuk said the number of female ministers in Queensland had made a "substantial difference" to the way it approached issues.
She said she was appalled by the lack of dignity and respect shown to women in Australia.
"Women who have been the victims of sexual assault over numerous years who have said nothing, and they took the courage to come forward (and) these brave women are now standing strong and standing firm," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"I commend everybody who has been dignified and shown respect and has shared those very deep and personal stories."
