Qld man's murder linked to bikie gang

The brutal execution of a Queensland father has been linked to the Bandidos outlaw bikie gang more than a decade after his murder.

John Lazzaro, 56, was gunned down in his Rochedale South home, south of Brisbane, while his daughter was inside around 11pm in April 2012 after two masked men broke into the house.

His 19-year-old daughter was not physically harmed but the family dog was shot.

Queensland Police renewed a public appeal this year on the anniversary of Mr Lazzaro's death and recently recovered the murder weapon - a Browning semi-automatic handgun.

The gun had changed hands a number of times and was found after police raided an address in NSW where a 45-year-old man was questioned but not charged.

"We can confirm is that it appears that the death of Mr Lazzarro is a result of the involvement of members of the Bandidos outlaw criminal motorcycle gang," Acting Detective Inspector Daniel Cunningham said on Tuesday.

The recovery of the weapon has "accelerated" the decade-long investigation.

"We know that loyalties and relationships in relation to motorcycle gangs constantly changed and would encourage any person that has information in relation to the death of Mr Lazzaro to come forward," Det Cunningham said.

A $500,000 reward, announced in 2019, remains on offer for any information leading to the arrest or apprehension of a person responsible for Mr Lazzaro's murder.
