A 28-year-old man accused of murdering his neighbour has had his case mentioned in a Brisbane court.

Anthony John Cameron-Daisley was arrested on Monday, the day after Stephen Mowchanuk's body was found at his house at Bracken Ridge in north Brisbane.

Cameron-Daisley did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

His case is listed for mention in the same court on March 1.

Police earlier said a large metal object was used to hit the victim's head, causing significant blunt force trauma.

The two men were known to each other before the attack, but police were still trying to work out what happened, Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Ziebarth earlier told reporters.

He said the death had shocked neighbours and the quick arrest came from community sharing information with detectives.

Mr Mowchanuk's body was found by his mother.
