A Queensland man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly tried to strangle and suffocate a woman.
Police were called to a house in the outer Brisbane suburb of Kenmore about 2.30am on Saturday, where they found the woman with injuries to her neck and hands.
Police say a man known to the woman went to the property and tried to suffocate and strangle her.
A violent struggle allegedly ensued, in which the woman was able to break free and seek refuge at a neighbouring property.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police intercepted a vehicle a short distance away and arrested a 54-year-old Taringa man.
He was charged with attempted murder, entering dwelling with intent by break at night, and contravening a domestic violence order.
He was refused police bail and is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
