Qld golf club death treated as a murder

Police have launched a murder investigation after a suspicious death at a Queensland golf club. (AAP)

The body of a man found in his home at a Queensland golf club has prompted a murder investigation on the Fraser Coast.

Gregory Harding was found dead on Monday morning at the Craignish Country Club, a golf club and hotel near Hervey Bay.

Harding was the club's owner and caretaker. Police say the 64-year-old was found with a stack of documents near him and his injuries have prompted a murder investigation.

"A witness attended the club for routine business and was unable to locate Mr Harding, which was out of character," Detective David Harbison said.

"He has unfortunately found Mr Harding deceased inside his residence.

"We still have forensic police combing through the scene. It does take a long time. There's a lot to trawl through.

"We will look at everything. We won't leave any stone unturned and we'll get to the bottom of what's happened."

Police are asking anyone with information or CCTV footage of Pialba-Burrum Heads Road to come forward.
